Elements of Islay Bn9
Bn9 is a combination of four American oak hogsheads, all of which are peated.
Bunnahabhain distillery only produces small quantities of peated malt each year, so it's great to see a higher alcohol independent bottling of this.
Only 2185 bottles of this BN9 were produced
Distilled in 2014 and aged for over 7 years. The Elements of Islay team selects excellent casks for bottling.
Official tasting notes
Nose – Runny caramel, Belgian chocolate seashells, a warm malted milk drink, thickly coated chocolate cookies and a creamy chocolate milkshake. Hints of cooked orchard fruit and tobacco leaf at the back.
Taste – Honey roasted parsnips and smoked, crispy bacon. Lots of saltiness and some dried figs combine nicely with well-integrated bonfire smoke.
Finish - Ash and orange-dark chocolate together with a hint of thyme. Thick, dense wood smoke remains.
